Angry Lobster Disc Golf; A Fun Piece Of History In Fairfield

Angry Lobster Disc Golf is located in the Ten Lots Community of Fairfield, Maine, on a historic farm property. The property, which dates back to the mid-1700s and was originally part of an English Monarchy land grant, has been a thriving farm for well over two centuries. Mark Andre’ bought the farm in 2004 and established Thornridge Farms Nursery, LLC on the property. The farm has been used to grow shade, decorative, and Christmas trees since 2005. The wonderfully designed Disc Golf Course was built with surplus inventory from tree nursery operations. We’re proud to be a part of an ever growing community, with well over 6,000 disc golf courses in the United States alone. That’s nearly 75% of all disc golf courses in the world! The Origins of Angry Lobster

The Course’s construction began in the summer of 2020. Constructing the Course was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We would break through old stone barriers as we dug tunnels through the forests, which had remained unbroken since the stones were first removed from the fields in the 18th and 19th centuries, judging by the top soil pile. We also discovered caches of ancient farm hardware, glass bottles, and other varied treasures left by folks who tended the area in the past to preserve the farm’s natural beauty. Valuing The Past; Repurposed For The Future

In keeping with that history, we’ve done our best to incorporate the materials discovered during construction into the Course’s uniqueness and beauty. A few examples include the stone walls bordering Hole 5, raised tee boxes on Holes 11 and 15, and a sunken tee box on Hole 18. Old piton holes visible on the big boulders surrounding the 15th tee were left from early attempts to split the rocks many years ago. We hope you have as much fun playing the Angry Lobster as we have had making it. We look forward to seeing you and showing you around our historic farm, whether it’s your first visit or one of many.
